Is the Constitution Party Glenn Beck's "Common Sense" Party?
by Karen Murray, Communications Director

An inquiring mind asked me the other day if I thought the Constitution Party could be the “Common Sense Party” referred to by Glenn Beck. I would answer with a resounding “Yes”! Why do I think this? Because Glenn Beck’s 9 Principles and his recommendation of the book “The 5000 Year Leap” by W. Cleon Skousen, contain the same principles found in the 2008 Constitution Party platform. I hope to show the reader that the Constitution Party is indeed, the only “Common Sense” Party in America today.
The complete article is available on our forum:
Believe In America

The Constitution Party of Washington does not officially endorse Glenn Beck or his views. This article is simply intended to point out to anyone who reads it that there is a viable alternative to the current two party system; that the Constitution Party is the only political party which strictly defends and upholds the founding principles of liberty. We believe this to be "Common Sense", that is, the sense that the Common Man has in understanding right from wrong and liberty from tyranny.

FEATURED PLATFORM PLANK FOR SEPTEMBER 2009

State Sovereignty

The Tenth Amendment states:
"The powers not delegated to the United States by the
Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are
reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

The Constitution delegated few, enumerated powers to the Federal Government, reserving all remaining powers to the States and the people. Thus, powers of the Federal were the exception. Our federal republic was created by joint action of the several states. It has been gradually perverted into a socialist machine for federal
control in the domestic affairs of the states. The federal government has no authority to mandate policies relating to state education, natural resources, transportation, private business, housing, and health care, ad infinitum.

We call upon the states to reclaim their legitimate role in federal affairs and legislation (See Amendment 10 United States Constitution) and thus cause the federal government to divest itself of operations not authorized by the Constitution and extract the federal government from
such enterprises, whether or not they compete with private enterprise.

BOOK OF PATRIOTS: Why I Joined the Constitution Party

Mitchell P. Gill's Story

I have always believed that joining and voting for a third party was a wasted vote. I believed that someone who was more like Ronald Reagan would eventually lead the Republican Party back in the right direction. I have always voted but this last Presidential election I was not sure who would hurt the country less; a rather pathetic way to look at a decision as important as it was.

I have always been patriotic. I supported the troops who went to Vietnam, joined the USAF in 1976 and served 11 years. After a 17 year break, 9/11 and a President I believed in, I rejoined the military at the age of 48 and served a tour in Iraq. Upon my return some of my friends were serving on the border. Their stories of how they carried weapons with no ammo, the illegal’s, once they found out, would run right past our troops and the border fence that barely got started, upset me and I became cynical of my own President.

The major changes in me occurred when President Obama was elected and began moving us closer and closer to Socialism or Fascism. But the nail in the coffin was the silence from my party and watching my Congressman (Dave Reichert) vote for Cap and Trade.

I raised my hand just like the President, members of the Senate and the House that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic! Unfortunately I do not feel that my President nor either party is honoring that oath.

I have therefore resigned from the Republican Party and joined the Constitution Party. This party represents my values and beliefs and I firmly believe that as we sink deeper and deeper, more Democrats and Republicans will become disillusioned and join the Constitution Party.

I have digitally signed my name in large font in the event that my email is posted. Though I do not dare to compare myself to John Hancock, I do want to insure that those that choose to destroy the principles that so many of us bled and died for, can see my name very clearly.

Signed without reservation,

Mitchell P. Gill

State Sovereignty - House Joint Memorial 4009

CITIZENS FOR HJM 4009
Washington State Sovereignty Action Alert

What is going on: Over the summer we have seen how our Federal Representatives have ignored or belittled the very people they are supposed to represent, "We the People". There is an ever increasing attempt to centralize government to those in DC which would essentially silence our voices and nullify our Constitution. There is an all out assault on our freedoms on a number of issue: Free Speech, Health Care, Cap and Trade, Gun rights, The National Guard, Education, Transportation, Banking, Mandatory Vaccines and the list goes on. Our Constitution was founded on the principle of Limited Government! We must stand up for the Constitution and hold our representative accountable and we do have tools to do so. The Tenth Amendment:
"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."
What can you do:
1. Listen to the interview between Rep. Matt Shea (WA 4th Dist.) & the 10th Amendment Center - Rep. Shea Interview
2. Educate yourself on the 10th Amendment
3. Educate others on the 10th Amendment
4. Take tour of the Capitol in Olympia on October 1st (www.cpwashington-events.blogspot.com)
5. Make an appointment to speak with your state representatives to talk with them about House Joint Memorial 4009 , the Tenth Amendment and Out of Control Government. Voice your concerns and ask them to support State Sovereignty bills during the next session.
6. Organize or attend 10th Amendment rallies! Our state representatives are supposed to be protecting Washington State resident's rights and freedoms. They took an oath to uphold the US Constitution and our Washington State Constitution. Some of our representatives will be standing up for us during the next session. Will you stand with them? Other states are standing up to the out of control Federal Government; will our state stand with them?
Representative Matt Shae has also signed the 10-4 pledge. It can be viewed here: Pledge If you want to see a map of who has signed the pledge thus far: Map. The pledge is a tool that can be used with current representatives holding office and those who are seeking to win in upcoming elections. Will they sign it? If no, why?

America, Black and Blue from Red and Blue

On third parties, the conservative movement, and 2012 America:
The Constitution Party interview
By Ronald Glenn
America's Right
The third party. At a time when more and more people on both sides of the political debate feel disenfranchised and disappointed in their respective parties, the talk surrounding a viable third party is growing. Whether it be the Green Party on the left, the Constitution Party on the right, or the Libertarian Party on a completely different plane, whispers have become shouts.

Read this article in its entirety, including an interview with Jim Clymer, chairman of the national Constitution Party.
